Title: Useful websites for those starting out in genealogy
Posted by: Bryan Livingston
Date: 24 February 2006

For the past couple of months, since starting my search for Scottish links to my Livingston ancestors, I have searched many different websites.

Some are useful, many are free, some are a complete waste of time.

For those starting out on your search you might find the following free websites useful:
www.scotsorigins.com  (Births, Christenings and Marriages 1553 to 1875)
www.familysearch.org/   (One of the largest free genealogy sites in the world)
http://freecen.rootsweb.com/cgi/search.pl   (Cencus data)

If anybody else has a useful site for tracing Livingston ancestory, please add them to this thread.  Im sure it will help others to track down their missing links.
