Using Google, I've been doing some new searches to track down McOnlea and similar mentions (other than those already on this forum.)

On http://www.kintyremag.co.uk/2000/37/page11.html

1683.  Donald McOnlea, "Merchant in Cameltown"

http://genforum.genealogy.com/ochiltree/messages/865.html

1688. Donald McLea of Lindsaig (Valuation Rolls for Argyll),
1693. Donald McOnlea of Lindsaig (Hearth Tax Roll),
1751. Alexander McLea of Lindsaig (Valuation of Cowal) ,
1780. Duncan Macinlea (Valuation Rolls of Argyll),

On http://www.users.globalnet.co.uk/~hotel/old1/cornb35.html

in 1656, when "Dunislea McOnlea" (i.e."Livingstone") was found guilty of "adulterie with Katherine NcFerchar"

In 1683 in Inveraray, an Archibald Mconlea is mentioned:

There are McOnLea crofters listed on the Isle of Luing as late as 1730:

http://www.isleofluing.org/luingweb/heritage.asp

http://books.google.com/books?vid=0Mj_0dO_3wUqS9Tnm2&id=xAIdAAAAMAAJ&q=McOnlea&dq=McOnlea&pgis=1

"upon the 21 of februar <1662> before Mr. John Stewart minister, Duncan 'Mconlea
late bayly of Rothesay. She was apprehended upon ..."

Book of Caution 1712:

In Muillbuy  (On Scarba, island N. of Jura), Donald mcEnlea

http://www.theargyllcolonyplus.org/archive_articles/Bond%20of%20Caution%201712%20from%20Lindsay%20Neil%20final.pdf

As David and Craig already found:
MacOchananich or MacO'Connonich Gilnive 11/09/1694 and Moir NicEnlea,
spouses, in Balemakillachane in Lismore, d. Aug. 1694 and May 1694; Christian, daughter, and Duncan MacEnlea, her husband, in Balemakillachane Inventory Argyll Commissary Court CC2/5/4

A 1634 precept was given to Archibald M'Enlay by Lord Lorne for the estate at Lindsaig.

In fact, there appear to still be a couple of people living today with the McEnlea surname!  We should try to track some of these down!

For Macinlea, of course, Duncan MacInlea of Bachuil listed in the 1751 Valuation of Proprietors of Argyll

Interestingly, for Mac-An-Leigh, I found this book, with a chapter about Archibald Livingston, Sr., and Jr.:

http://books.google.com/books?vid=0Rs8xbjiAL2pCGnznYo&id=WGfKyZogpVEC&pg=PA94&lpg=PA94&dq=Mac-An-leigh#PPA93,M1

It refers to the Sr Archibald as the "great-grandson of the Laird of Lindsaig."  Upon a quick inspection, I see that Archibald had one son, Archibald.  I didn't find any reference to whether Archibald Jr had any children, but if so, there might be someone around claiming definitive descent from Lindsaig!  perhaps even with documents... we should try to track this chap down!

Also, there is page 348 of Reliquiae Celticae:

http://books.google.com/books?vid=0ltwG6puwxhSzn9rHiJ&id=52wlAAAAMAAJ&pg=PA348&lpg=PA348&dq=Mac-An-leigh

I can't read it, but it says:

"Do thuit Connan mac an leigh
'S an dorn d'a re'ir
Thuit le laimh gun lochd
Cead fear faobhar nochda" in line 38

Supposedly there is some reference in the History of Clan Campbell, pg 261, Alastair Campbell 2004, to someone "repeatedly calling for maconlea" but this may be a mixup on the part of the computer.  I can't read the page.

http://books.google.com/books?vid=ISBN1902930185&id=r7-tc5OT7-kC&pg=PA261&lpg=PA261&ots=LuFiXWt9WK&dq=MacOnlea&sig=oms3EOo3td0e0W97-v4pJCPtoYo

Perhaps some altered forms to look for too:

MCDONNSLAE MC-ONLEA MCONLEA M’ONLAY MCCLAY VC-ONLEA M’ONLEA. MC-ONLEW M’DUNSLEA M’DIMSLEA M’DHUNLEIBHE MACDONLEAVY MC-O-LEA

Andrew notes these:

McDunslaue is observed in 1518 as a personal name and patronymic amongst bond givers for the “clan Dowleavis” in Argyll

McDonnslae is observed in 1623

VcDunlaif is observed in North Argyll in 1570

The Macleay site notes these:

Just some food for thought...
