Title: Doctor David Livingstone's Jacobite ancestors
Posted by: Donald (Livingstone) Clink

Please note that while Doctor David Livingstones ancestors were likely Jacobites no where did he state that his great-great grandfather participated in the 1715 Jacobite uprising.

To be sure Maconleas (McLeas) were involved with MacDougalls and others in this 1715 uprising, but Dr. Livingstone never mentioned this in his personal narrative first published in 1857.

Regarding Bonnie Prince Charlie's Jacobite Rebellion of 1745 he briefly states on the first page of his introduction to his book that "Our great-grandfather fell at the Battle of Culloden fighting for the old line of kings" and regretably nothing more on his family Jacobite connections.

Unfortunately the author of this wikipedia insert on this aspect of Doctor Livingstone's history has provided information which is both misleading and inaccurate. If any of our clan members who are working on the MacLea Wikipedia project could correct this information this info it would be greatly appreciated both by myself and his kin.

regards
