Title: Macdonleavie in 1304

Almost certainly predecessors of our McLeas...

Of particular interest to me is that my family seems to be localized in this whole area.  I have my family origins on Bute in the 1600-1700s, not far away from the lands of McLea of Achnacree and Lindsaig, etc.  I have DNA matches to a McDonald of Lochgilphead as well as McCains that may in fact originate in Kilmichael Glassary.  If I am understanding the geography well enough, this all seems to point pretty strongly to a Western Argyll origin, and a potential linkage with all of the McLeas of this area, potentially going back to this 1304 Macdonleavie!

Although, clearly the DNA project would seem to put a hole in the idea that we are all of a single paternal line, nonetheless.

Anyone recommend a good online map for browsing these areas.  Or a good book containing maps of use?

Interesting stuff.
