Title: Culloden Headstone at Portnacroich
Posted by: Donald (Livingstone) Clink

As Keith Livingstone pointed in April of 2005, he visited in 2002 a old churchyard near Portnacroich, which I assume in the Appin area and he described to the interest of some at the time the little known fact that there is according to Keith "a delapidated stone church with a Culloden headstone set into the wall...it said under the list of the deceased: Livingstones or MacLeas 4. The date of the stone could not be determined, but I would think it likely 19th possibly 18th century after the name change. Why it ended up near Portnacroich and not on Culloden Battlefield where it should rightfully be might be an interesting story for one of our skilled researchers to take a crack at. Our fellow clansman Keith from Australia, filmed the church site it but recorded it on video only at the time. Hope to hear more from Keith on this one.

regards

Donald
