Title: hello from a new member

Hello! I posted this on the DNA list, but am re-posting it here. My name is Catherine Maclay and I live with my husband
(Russell Schoch) in Berkeley, California (near San Francisco).
I've kept my original surname through thick and thin, but I've never
known much about the Maclays (or McLays). I got my brother to take a Y
chromosome test, which was posted on Ancestry.com, and soon heard from
Andrew and from Anna Muir Knapp--thanks to them I now know many names,
places and dates.
Here's a summary of my Maclay line:
My father, Robert Cunningham Maclay, was an only child, born 15
Feb.1915,in Ridgefield Park, New Jersey. He and my mother, Jeane
Frothingham (b. 1917, Philadelphia) had two children, Robert
Frothingham Maclay (b. 1946, Los Angeles)and me, Catherine Maclay (b.
1948, Los Angeles)
My father's parents were Robert Muir Maclay (b.01 Nov., 1888, New
York) and Janet Fenton Cunningham (b. July 27 1885, Glasgow, Scotland).
Robert Muir Maclay's parents were David McLay (b. 26 Feb. 1862,
Tillicoultry, Clackmannan, Scotland)
and Janet Muir (b. 08 Jun 1863, Alva, Stirling, Scotland).
In addition to my grandfather, they had two other children, Agnes, b.
Nov. 1892, New York, and Mabel, b. Dec. 1895 in Scotland.  Agnes and
Mabel both married but were childless.
David McLay was one of 10 children born to Robert McLay (b. 26 Sep
1835, Clackmannan, Clackmannan, Scotland, and Jane/Jean Ure (b. 16 May
1836, Tillicoultry,Clackmannan).
Their other children were Margaret, Elizabeth, Jane, Robert, Janet,
James, Isabella, Anna, and John, all born in Stirling or Clackmannan.
I see I'm running out of space, so I'll stop here for now.
I'm still trying to grasp the full significance of the Y test results.
Any cousins, distant or otherwise, out there?
