Kenneth McLea, (b. 16 September 1755 d. 18 March 1838 at age 83) a shipmaster “Skipper” and long time mariner was married on the 14th of July 1788 to Jean McVicar b. 1767 d. 18 October 1843 at age 76. They had 9 children.

Agnes McLea b. 8 October 1793 Christened 6 November 1793 d. ??
Daniel McLea b. 12 January 1796 d. 22 July 1844 age 48,
A cloth merchant living at 33 Dalrymple Street in Greenock, Scotland. Had a son Captain William McLea who died in Baltimore, MD on 5 July 1869. Elizabeth McLea was the only daughter of Daniel and she died on 16 November 1839.

robbery attempt in Buenos Ayres while on vacation from the St Johns store.

Story of Kenneth McLea Senior (1755 – 1838):
Kenneth McLea was raised in Kilfinan and later moved to Greenock. He was a shipmaster or “Skipper” and long time mariner. Kenneth was married on the 14th of July 1788 to Jean McVicar b. 1767 d. 18 October 1843 at age 76. Jean McVicar was the daughter of Archibald McVicar and Jean Douglas and sister of Rev. Patrick McVicar, professor at St. Andrews, whose son was the Doctor John McVicar 1878 D.D. of Moffat. Kenneth and Jean lived at 32 Dalrymple Street in Inverclyde, Greenock, Scotland for many years. About 1828 they moved to 1 Old Dock head, Greenock. Kenneth and Jean along with daughter Catherine are buried at Inverkip Street cemetery in Greenock, Scotland. The fourth son was named Kenneth, junior. See story below.
